Airlines hiring cabin crew — August 2026
August was a European Open Day month. Emirates toured five French cities, Etihad ran Rome, and Ryanair and Wizz Air kept assessment days going through the peak-season weeks while most flag carriers stayed quiet. The month's biggest story was a non-event: American Airlines let its heavily trailed 24 August application opening slip without explanation, leaving the largest US intake of the year still unstarted.

Emirates
Ran a five-city Open Day tour of France through August — Nice, Montpellier, Paris, Lyon and Strasbourg — alongside its continuous global online application. No aviation experience required; minimum age 21 and the usual reach requirement applied at the door.
Etihad Airways
Held a full-day Open Day in Rome at the start of the month and kept its global online recruitment running throughout, with further European dates published on the events portal as the autumn calendar firmed up.
Ryanair
Kept assessment days running right through peak season with August events in Bristol, Madrid (twice), Dublin, Lisbon and Paris Beauvais, mostly via Crewlink. Courses start almost monthly as 737 MAX deliveries continue.
Wizz Air
Continued its rolling Recruitment Day programme across European bases, with Italian and CEE cities dominating the calendar. Dates post roughly a month in advance, so the September Italian events were already listed by late August.
Finnair
Opened a Helsinki-base cabin crew campaign on 24 August via recruitment partner Barona, running to 6 September, with training starting gradually in early 2027. A rare opening for a carrier that normally recruits only in occasional campaigns.
easyJet
Announced in late August that its UK cabin crew campaign for 2027 would open in September, and publicised that its over-50s crew population has more than doubled since 2022 — a deliberate signal to older career-changers ahead of the opening.
IndiGo
Continued high-volume walk-in interviews across Indian cities as fleet growth outpaces crew supply, with the online portal registration and assessment required before attending any event.
Delta Air Lines
Continued accepting applications for upcoming 2027 classes, including bilingual language-of-destination roles. Portal wait times remain long and the offer rate stays under one percent, so the application quality bar is the real constraint.

Closed, paused or filled
American Airlines
The application opening billed for 24 August did not happen. The date was pushed to 14 September and then pulled altogether in favour of a holding message. This is a pipeline hire for 2027 training, so the delay changes the timeline less than it changes the nerves.
Alaska Airlines
Nothing open in August — the 2026 window had closed on 22 July. Candidates who applied were moving through video interviews and assessments during the month.
Hawaiian Airlines
Closed in the same July window as Alaska under the combined careers site, with no August reopening. Watch the shared Alaska careers portal rather than a separate Hawaiian listing.
Qatar Airways
No public Open Days were scheduled for August; Qatar leaned on international CV drops and digital recruitment events instead, with the assessment day staying invite-only after the online application and video interview.
What to do this month
If you were job-hunting in August, the winning move was travelling to an event rather than waiting for one to come to you — the month's real openings were the Emirates French tour, Etihad in Rome and the Ryanair and Wizz Air assessment circuit, all of which accepted first-time applicants with no aviation experience. The second priority was getting the Finnair Helsinki application in as soon as it opened on 24 August, because that window ran only two weeks. US-based candidates should have used the American Airlines delay to finish their application package instead of waiting on the countdown, and should have applied to Delta's 2027 classes in the meantime, since those remained open all month. The general lesson carried into September: applications made now are for training courses in 2027, so the people flying next summer are the ones applying while everyone else is watching the peak season go by.
