The culture is the other draw. Virgin deliberately recruits for personality, its 2022 identity-and-style overhaul scrapped gendered uniform rules and made visible tattoos acceptable, and crew consistently describe the onboard atmosphere as warmer and less hierarchical than at legacy rivals. That said, this is still a premium product airline: service standards in Upper Class are demanding, and the smaller fleet means fewer promotion slots and slower movement into Cabin Service Supervisor and Flight Service Manager roles than at bigger carriers.

Pay is mid-pack for the UK. Take-home for new joiners lands around GBP 1,750-2,100 a month depending on trip mix, boosted meaningfully by overseas allowances paid per layover night. Because the airline is small, hiring comes in waves tied to fleet deliveries and seasonal demand rather than running continuously, and competition for each intake is intense — applicants outnumber places many times over.
