Cosmic radiation for cabin crew, real numbers and what you can actually do

#1 Asked often, answered with fear on social media, so here's the measured version. Crew receive roughly 2-5 mSv a year on a full long-haul roster, against 2-3 mSv of natural background everyone gets. EU rules require airlines to track it and keep crew under 20 mSv a year, a level working crew never approach; polar and high-latitude routes carry more. The one situation that requires action: pregnancy, tell your airline early so the roster keeps fetal exposure under 1 mSv. EU carriers can give you your own figures on request.

#2 Confirming: at Air France you can request your annual dose figures and they are tracked per crew member. The pregnancy notification point is the important practical one.
