#1 Pay is in TRY with foreign-currency components for layovers, so quoting one number is tricky. As of this year for a wide-body crew member with a few years' seniority:
- Base salary plus flight hour pay, the monthly total in TRY tends to sit above the Istanbul professional average, adjusted regularly for inflation.
- Layover per diems in USD/EUR are where the money is on long-haul months; a month with two Americas or Far East layovers adds noticeably.
- Health insurance, staff travel, and a meal card are included.For a new joiner from abroad the honest summary: comfortable in Istanbul, savings depend on your layover mix and the exchange rate. Not Gulf tax-free money, but a real career airline.

#2 Agree. The per diems on Bangkok, Tokyo and New York rotations are what make the difference. And staff travel on this network is a genuine perk, I flew home to Manchester for almost nothing last month.
