Thai Airways Cabin Crew

Thai Airways International is the storied flag carrier of Thailand, famous for its purple orchid branding, wai greeting and genuinely warm Thai service culture. The airline went through court-supervised rehabilitation after the pandemic, slashing its fleet and workforce, and emerged leaner and profitable — exiting rehabilitation and relisting in 2025 with new 787s on order and its Bangkok Suvarnabhumi hub rebuilding toward Europe, Australia and North Asia. Crucially for crew hopefuls, cabin crew recruitment reopened after a long freeze, with campaigns drawing enormous applicant numbers.

The compensation picture has two tiers. Legacy crew who survived restructuring retain relatively strong seniority-based earnings — experienced long-haul crew commonly total THB 60,000-90,000 per month and senior pursers can exceed THB 100,000 in heavy months. New joiners start much lower: base pay around THB 18,000-22,000 with flight pay and per diems lifting total income to roughly THB 35,000-60,000 depending on hours. In Bangkok's cost of living that supports a comfortable middle-class life, and the prestige of the uniform in Thai society remains significant.

Hiring targets Thai nationals with strong English (TOEIC 600+ is the standard screen) and the process — group assessments, English testing, interviews and a demanding grooming standard including the fitted purple Thai-silk uniform — is highly competitive. Trade-offs include a smaller network than the airline's 1990s heyday, a company still cost-conscious after rehabilitation, and slower promotion while the seniority list digests restructuring. But as a stable, respected flying career at home in Thailand, TG has few rivals.
