Saudia (Saudi Arabian Airlines) is one of the oldest and largest carriers in the Middle East, flying a fleet of around 145 aircraft from its Jeddah hub to roughly 100 destinations, with Riyadh as a second major base. A SkyTeam member since 2012, it carries a unique mission: alongside normal scheduled flying, it is the backbone airline of Hajj and Umrah, moving millions of pilgrims a year — a seasonal operation unlike anything else in aviation.

For cabin crew the offer is stability and tax-free income rather than glamour. International crew are hired alongside a large Saudi workforce, and service culture is more formal and conservative than at neighbouring carriers — no alcohol is served onboard, and uniform and conduct rules reflect the kingdom's norms.

The reality check: Hajj and Ramadan seasons are extraordinarily intense, with dense rosters and heavy passenger loads that veteran crew describe as the hardest flying of their careers. Jeddah is more relaxed than Riyadh — it is a Red Sea coastal city with a diving scene — but base life is still quieter and more restricted than Dubai. Crew who value stability, savings and being part of a national transformation tend to stay; those chasing layover lifestyles usually look north.
