Air Canada Toronto in year four: the 787 to Tokyo at year four, the bilingual advantage on the bid
-
#1 Air Canada, Toronto, four years, bilingual from an immersion school, and Emilie wrote the bilingual application and Joel replied for Toronto. Year four at the biggest Air Canada base from inside, because the Toronto base is where most Air Canada new hires are placed and the Montreal threads are the louder ones.
The base
Air Canada Toronto, the biggest base, the whole network from Pearson: the domestic, the US, the Caribbean and the sun, the Europe long haul (London, Paris, Frankfurt, Rome, Zurich, Dublin, Munich and more), the Asia (Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Delhi), the South America. Thousands of crew, the biggest crew room in Canada, the seniority list that is the longest and that moves because the base is the biggest.
The 787 to Tokyo at year four
The thing in my bio: the Tokyo on the 787 held at year four from the Toronto list, which is fast for Asia at a legacy carrier and which the Toronto base's size makes possible. Year one was the domestic and the Caribbean (the Rouge logic at the mainline), year two the Europe nobody wanted, year three the Europe I wanted, year four the Tokyo. The Toronto list is long and it moves.
The bilingual advantage on the bid
The French and English from the immersion school: the bilingual crew are required on every flight by the law Emilie described and the bidding gives the bilingual crew the flights the base needs the French on, which at Toronto is most of the Europe and all of the Paris and Montreal connections. The Anglophone crew at Toronto hold the US and the Caribbean and the Asia; the bilingual crew hold everything. The immersion school was the best decision my parents made and I did not know it until the bid.
The Toronto base's size
The crew room is a city, the cliques Aisha's thread described exist at scale, the new hires sit together and scatter, and the base management is a department. The Toronto crew who want to be known transfer to the smaller bases; the ones who want the network stay. The size is the network and the anonymity and the crew choose.
The Pearson commute
Pearson is in Mississauga and the crew live in Mississauga, Etobicoke, Brampton, the west end of Toronto, and the ones who live downtown take the UP Express and regret it at 4am. Thirty to sixty minutes. The Toronto rent is the Canadian problem and the crew share in the west end and buy in the suburbs at mid seniority.
Year four honestly
The Tokyo, the bilingual bid advantage, the Toronto size, the Mississauga flat, the Canadian pay problem Holly described with the Air Canada scale at the top of the Canadian market and the CUPE Air Canada Component negotiating. The Toronto year four is the network delivered and the city paid for. I would choose it again and the immersion school kids should know the French is the whole bid.
For the Air Canada new hires placed at Toronto
The biggest base, the longest list that moves, the bilingual bid advantage, the Mississauga flat, the Tokyo at year four if the French is real. The Montreal threads are louder. The Toronto base is bigger.

#2 Air Canada Montreal, and Sarah's 'the bilingual crew hold everything' at Toronto is the bid advantage the application thread promised and the year four Tokyo is the proof. The immersion school kids are the Air Canada crew of the next decade. The Toronto base is bigger and Montreal is louder, as she says.
-
#3 Air Canada Toronto, and the Toronto list moving because the base is the biggest is the thing the Montreal crew do not credit: the Tokyo at year four from Toronto against the Paris at year three from Montreal. Both fast. Sarah's year four is the Toronto year four.
-
#4 WestJet Calgary, and the Air Canada Toronto crew holding the Tokyo at year four with the bilingual advantage is the thing the WestJet crew cannot match: our 787 is new and our list is young and the Tokyo is not ours. The French is the whole bid at Air Canada. Sarah has said it.
-
#5 Rouge Toronto, and the Toronto mainline base being a city with the Rouge base next door is the Pearson picture: two crew rooms, one airport, the flow between them. Sarah's year four is the mainline year four the Rouge crew flow toward.
-
#6 Porter Toronto, and the Pearson commute from Mississauga and the west end is the Porter commute too for the Pearson base, and the UP Express regret at 4am is universal. Sarah has the Toronto cabin crew geography.
-
#7 Etihad, Canadian, and the Anglophones who could not pass the French and went to the Gulf are the ones who read 'the bilingual crew hold everything' with the specific feeling. Sarah's immersion school is the thing that separated us. The French is the whole bid and the Gulf is the other door.
