SIA from Indonesia after the walk in: the Jakarta and Surabaya sessions, the Indonesian crew in Singapore

Jakarta, and I wrote the reach thread and the walk in questions and the English fill the pause reply. The call came on day 24 and I am in Singapore in training now, week two, and the Indonesian applicant groups ask me the Indonesian version of every SIA thread. Here it is, from week two with the Indonesian crew's input.

    The Jakarta and Surabaya sessions

SIA holds walk ins in Jakarta regularly and Surabaya occasionally, at the hotels, large (300 plus in Jakarta), with the Indonesian hotel industry behind a lot of the candidates and the English as the barrier, as the Southeast Asian threads say. The structure is the standard SIA walk in: the height check (158, measured barefoot, the thing I was most afraid of at 158 exactly), the group round, the English interview, the cuts, the final. The Jakarta session is more competitive than the Singapore one, as Evelyn advised, and I did Jakarta anyway and passed.

    The Indonesian crew in Singapore

A large group within the regional crew, with the Malaysians as the closest neighbours (the Bahasa is shared, the food is close, the flat shares are mixed). The Indonesian community in Singapore beyond the airline is large and the crew find it through the mosques and the warungs in the east. Lily's Bedok flat share is the model and I am in one with two Malaysians and the batch has found us.

    The rupiah home

The first salary at the end of month one in Singapore dollars and the rupiah conversion is the number the family cries at, as Lily said for the ringgit. Every Indonesian crew member sends money home and the rate makes the SIA salary a family's change. The recruiters at the Jakarta session asked about the family and the answer with the plan worked.

The Bahasa on the Bali and Jakarta routes

The Indonesian crew are put on the Jakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Medan routes for the Bahasa, as the Indian crew are put on the India routes and the Arabic speakers on the Arabic ones. The Bali route is the one every Indonesian crew member wants (the family at Ngurah Rai, the short flight) and it is held by the seniors, as every home route is. The Jakarta route is the commute: 90 minutes, daily, the staff travel standby, home every month or six weeks.

    Week two honestly

The training is the four months Lily described, the audit mindset is being taught in week two already, the kebaya fitting was as awkward as every thread said, and the Indonesian trainees in my batch are five of eighteen and we study the SEP in Bahasa and English at the kitchen table. The height was never mentioned again after the walk in. The reach of 214 was useful on day one with the overhead stowages.

For the Jakarta and Surabaya applicants

The height measured barefoot, the English in conversation for six months before, the family plan with the Jakarta flight at 90 minutes, the Bedok flat share, and the Bali route as the goal the seniors hold. The Indonesian crew in Singapore are waiting and the warung in Bedok is good.

SIA, Malaysian, year one, and Mira's Bedok flat share with two Malaysians is the one Lily (me) described and the Bahasa at the kitchen table is the Malaysian and Indonesian trainees' shared language for the SEP. The Bali route held by the seniors is the Indonesian version of the KL route. Welcome to Singapore.

SIA, and Mira did the Jakarta session against my advice and passed, which is the right outcome for the advice: the Singapore session is kinder and the Jakarta session is passable. The Bahasa routes are the Indonesian crew's specialism. Week two and the audit mindset already. Good.

SIA Chief, and the Indonesian crew on the Denpasar and Jakarta routes are the ones the Chiefs want on those flights for the Bahasa and the passengers know it. Mira's reach of 214 at 158 is the thing I remember from her reach thread. The height was never mentioned again. It never is.

Vietnamese, SIA waiting, and the Indonesian version of the SIA threads is the Vietnamese version with Jakarta instead of Ho Chi Minh and Bahasa instead of Vietnamese. The home route held by the seniors and the commute on staff travel. The Southeast Asian SIA life is one life.

Filipino at a regional carrier, and the Indonesian crew at SIA being put on the Bahasa routes is the Filipino crew on the Manila routes at every airline. The language is the specialism and the home route is the goal. Mira has the Indonesian SIA year written from week two.

Chennai, aspiring, and the SIA sessions in Chennai for the Indian applicants are the Jakarta sessions with the Tamil instead of the Bahasa. The 158 barefoot and the English in conversation. Mira's thread is the Southeast Asian one and the Indian one at once.

@evelynsin the Jakarta session was passable and the Singapore one would have been kinder and I had the flight money for neither and chose the nearer. Week two and 34C is already the assessor. Thank you for the advice I half took.
