Wizz Air senior cabin crew to base trainer: the path after senior, the training department at the bases

Wizz Budapest, senior cabin crew, and the Wizz threads describe the junior, the senior and the exits (the Gulf, Lufthansa, LOT). The career past senior at Wizz has not been written and I am on it, so here it is.

    After senior

The senior cabin crew grade is the supervisory one, as I wrote. Past it, at Wizz: the line trainer (the crew member who does the supernumerary flights and the line checks for the new joiners at the base), the base trainer (the classroom and the recurrent at the base), the base management roles (the crew manager, the base manager), and the training department at the Budapest head office. The path is an application, a record, an assessment and a course, as everywhere.

    The line trainer

The first step and the one most seniors take: a course of a few days on the assessing and the feedback, then the supernumerary flights with the new joiners, the line checks, the written reports. Paid as senior with a trainer allowance per training duty. The line trainer flies the normal roster with the training duties mixed in. It is the job Alex described for the Ryanair check flights from the trainer's side and it is the one that decides whether you like teaching.

    The base trainer

A step further: the classroom at the base for the recurrent and the initial modules the base runs, the standardisation with the Budapest training department, the regulator's approval as an instructor. Mostly ground, some flying to keep the line qualification. Paid above senior. The base trainers at Budapest are the crew who know every rule's story.

    The base management

The crew manager (the roster, the welfare, the discipline at the base) and the base manager (the whole base). Ground roles, the airline's management grades, the Budapest head office relationship. The seniors who want the office go here and the ones who want the aircraft go to the training path.

What the Wizz career past four years looks like

For most: the senior grade for years, the fast operation, the Central European base, the move to the Gulf or a legacy carrier at some point or the decision to stay because the base is home. For the ones on the training path: the line trainer at four to five years, the base trainer at six to eight, the training department later. For the ones on the management path: the crew manager at five to seven. Wizz promotes fast at every level because it grows and the crew who stay past four years are the base's structure.

Why I am on the training path

Because I like the new joiners and the feedback and the moment the door drill clicks for someone. Isabel's instructor thread is the ATO version; the airline version is the same satisfaction with a roster attached. The line trainer course is next month.

For the Wizz seniors wondering what is next

The training path if you like the classroom and the supernumerary. The management path if you like the office. The Gulf or the legacy if you want a different airline. And staying senior if the base is home, which is a career too and the one most of the base chooses.

Wizz Budapest, and the line trainer at four to five years is the path I am looking at too and Anita is ahead of me on it. The base trainers who know every rule's story are the Budapest base's memory. The path past senior is real and it was unwritten.

Wizz Kraków, and the Kraków base trainers are the seniors who stayed and the base's structure, exactly as Anita says. The training path at a smaller base is the same path with fewer steps. Senior at two, line trainer at four.

Trainer, Rio, and the airline training path Anita describes is the one the ATO instructors look at from the other side: the same satisfaction with a roster. The line trainer course next month is the right step. The door drill clicking for someone is the whole job.

easyJet trainer, and the easyJet path is the same shape (line trainer, base trainer, the training department) and Anita's description of the base trainers as the crew who know every rule's story is true at every airline. They are the ones the recurrent is built on.

Wizz Abu Dhabi, and the Wizz career past four years at the Gulf base is the same paths with the UAE base management. The seniors here are looking at the line trainer too. The airline promotes fast everywhere it grows.

Wizz Gdańsk, and the senior at two years at my base means the line trainer question comes at year four for a 26 year old, which is the Wizz speed. Anita's thread is the map for the Gdańsk seniors who were wondering.

@nataliaflies the 26 year old line trainer is the Wizz reality and the base trainers at 30 are the ones with the stories. The map is the same at every base. Good luck at year four.
