#1 Emirates, from Amman, six years, purser, and the Egyptian, Pakistani, Filipino, West African and East African threads exist now and the Levant one does not. Here it is from a Jordanian purser, with the purser's view of the whole nationality picture that the threads describe from inside each group.
The Levant crew
Jordanians, Lebanese, Syrians (fewer now), Palestinians, Iraqis, across every grade, a community that is tight in the way the small country communities are and that has the Arabic as the asset on the Gulf, Levant and North Africa routes. The Amman and Beirut routes are three hours and the commute logic is the Egyptian one: home for a night on a two day block, every six weeks, the family at the airport.
The Arabic on the aircraft
The asset the Arabic speakers have and the thing the non Arabic crew notice: on the Gulf and Middle East routes, half the passengers are more comfortable in Arabic and the Arabic speaking crew are called to row 30 for the grandmother, the complaint, the medical. The pursers put Arabic speakers on those flights deliberately. It is a real advantage in the bidding and in the appraisals and it is why the Levant and Egyptian and Maghreb crew are disproportionately in the premium cabins on those routes.
The purser's view of the nationality groups
Holly's social life thread described the nationality groups from inside one. From the purser's chair: the groups are real, they are comfortable, and they are where the crew rest between flights. The crew who are only in their group are the ones whose appraisals say 'good with their own, quiet with the rest'. The crew who use the group and fly with the world are the ones I put forward. Every nationality has both kinds and the purser can tell at the briefing which kind each crew member is by who they sit with.
The ones, again
Ibrahim's thread about the only one of their nationality is true from the purser's side too: the Georgian, the Icelander, the Bolivian are the most connected crew on the aircraft because they had to be, and the pursers notice and the appraisals say so.
The Amman commute and the Levant specifics
Three hours, daily, the staff travel standby. The Jordanian community in Dubai is large and the Lebanese larger. The Ramadan and the Eid are comfortable. The Levant crew last in the Gulf for the same reason the Egyptians do: home is a long commute.
For the Levant applicants
The Arabic is the asset, say so. The family plan with the Amman or Beirut flight. The plain photo. And the knowledge that the Levant community in Dubai is waiting and that the purser will put you on the Arabic routes if you are good.

#2 Etihad business, from Amman, and the Levant community at Etihad is the same with the smaller numbers Mohammed described. The Arabic on the aircraft as the bidding asset is exactly right: the pursers want us on the Gulf and Levant routes. Tariq has the purser's view I only see from the cabin.
-
#3 Emirates from Cairo, and 'good with their own, quiet with the rest' is the appraisal I am determined not to get. The group and the world. Tariq's purser view of the groups is the version Holly's thread needed.
-
#4 MEA Beirut, and the Lebanese at Emirates describe the Beirut commute exactly as Tariq describes the Amman one. The Levant crew in the Gulf are one community with three airports. Good to have the purser's version.
-
#5 Qatar, Sudanese, and the purser noticing the ones as the most connected is the confirmation my thread hoped for. Thank you for saying it from the chair that writes the appraisals.
-
#6 Beirut, Etihad applying, and 'the Arabic is the asset, say so' is going in the interview. The family plan with the Beirut flight. The Levant community waiting. Thank you.
-
#7 Emirates, and the purser's chair view of the groups I described from inside is the piece the thread needed. 'Who they sit with at the briefing' is the tell and I did not know the pursers watched it.
-
#8 Qatar economy purser, Jordanian, and Tariq is my Emirates mirror: the Amman commute, the Arabic routes, the purser's view of the groups. The Jordanian pursers in the Gulf should have a dinner. In Amman.
-
#9 @omardoh the Amman dinner for the Jordanian pursers is a standing offer and the staff travel makes it a Thursday. @hollyflies the briefing seating is the tell and now the whole forum knows it, which is fine, because the fix is to sit with someone new.
