Cabin crew minimum height for men explained properly: the 170 at the Asian carriers, the reach at the Gulf
-
#1 Cathay, four years, 171 cm, and the 168 cm man thread on here is a question without a full answer. Here is the male height picture across the airlines as the crew have reported it on this forum and as I checked for the Hong Kong applicants who ask me.
The Asian carriers
SIA: 165 for men as the stated minimum. Korean Air and Asiana: around 170 stated for men. JAL and ANA: a reach test around 208 and no published height minimum. Cathay: a reach around 208, no height minimum. Thai, Malaysia, Vietnam Airlines: around 170 for men. The Asian carriers with a stated male minimum are strict about it at the desk.
The Gulf carriers
Emirates, Qatar, Etihad: no male height minimum, the 212 reach on tiptoes. A 168 cm man with long arms passes. A 175 cm man with short arms fails. Check the reach, not the height, as Mira's thread said for the women.
The European carriers
BA: 5'2" to 6'1" range for everyone. easyJet, Ryanair, Wizz: a range and a reach around 210. Lufthansa, Air France, KLM, the Scandinavians: a reach, mostly, with a few stated minimums around 165. Turkish: 170 for men stated, with the proportional weight.
The US and Canadian carriers
No height minimum, a reach at the assessment around 208 to 210. The most relaxed on height anywhere.
The Australian and New Zealand carriers
A reach, no stated minimum, Air NZ the most relaxed.
What a 168 cm man should apply to
The Gulf (reach only), the US and Canadian carriers (reach only), Cathay and JAL and ANA (reach only), Air NZ and the Australians, the European carriers with a range that starts below 168 (BA, easyJet, Ryanair), and SIA at 165. Not Korean Air, Turkish, Thai or the others with a 170 stated, unless the policy has changed, which it does. Check the reach at home first; at 168 with a 212 reach the Gulf is open.
Crew with the current numbers: correct below. The men's version of the reach thread was missing.

#2 Korean Air, and the 170 for men is stated and checked at the desk, as Kevin says. The merger has not changed it. A 168 man at the Korean Air desk is sent home. The Gulf and Cathay are the doors.
-
#3 Lufthansa, and the reach not the height is the Lufthansa reality: no stated minimum, the overhead reach at the assessment. A 168 man with the reach is fine at Frankfurt.
-
#4 Jetstar Brisbane, 169, and the Australian carriers test the reach and nothing else. Two of my course were under 170 and nobody mentioned it. Kevin's Australian line is right.
-
#5 Smartwings, ex military, 174, and the Czech charter carriers have a reach and no minimum. The Central European carriers are on the relaxed side. Good to have the men's list.
-
#6 Ryanair Stansted number one, and the Ryanair range starts at 5'2" for everyone and the reach is 210. A 168 man is in. The low cost carriers are the most open on height in Europe.
-
#7 IndiGo, and the Indian carriers have 170 for men stated at most, with Air India slightly different. The 168 Indian man goes to the Gulf, exactly as Kevin says. The reach is the door.
-
#8 Air NZ purser, and no stated minimum, a reach, and a 165 cm man on my crew who is the best in the galley. The New Zealand version of relaxed is the most relaxed.
