Avianca assessment in Bogotá at 2,600 metres: the group dynamic in Spanish, the altitude on the day, the English test and what Avianca looks for in 2026

Avianca, Bogotá, four years, and the Avianca recruitment thread on here is from an applicant. Here is the Bogotá assessment from inside, because the Colombian applicants read this forum and the altitude alone deserves a paragraph.

    The altitude

Bogotá is at 2,600 metres and the assessment day is long. Candidates from the coast (Barranquilla, Cartagena, Cali at 1,000) arrive the day before and still feel it: the breath on the stairs, the headache at 3pm, the tiredness. Arrive two days early if you can. Eat. Drink water. The recruiters know and they do not score the breathlessness, but a faint at the group dynamic is a bad day.

    The day

Registration and documents (cédula, passport, certificates, the photo), the reach test, a group dynamic in Spanish (a service scenario, eight people, the watching), an English test (written and a conversation; Avianca flies to the US and Europe and the English is real), a short individual interview, and the medical appointment given to the ones who pass. Smaller than the Gulf events, 50 to 80 per session.

    What Avianca looks for

The Colombian warmth without the Colombian habit of talking over each other. A candidate who can switch registers between the Bogotá business traveller and the Barranquilla family. English that can handle a Miami or Madrid passenger. And the willingness to be based where the airline needs: Bogotá mostly, with Medellín, Cali and the Central American bases (San Salvador, San José) for some.

    The contract

Colombian employment law, the Avianca agreement with ACAV (the cabin crew union), pay in pesos with the international allowances in dollars as the real income. The Madrid and Miami and Buenos Aires flying is where the senior crew are.

    For the Colombian applicants

The altitude, the English, the register switching. Apply alongside LATAM Colombia and the Gulf events in Bogotá. Avianca is the home long haul carrier and the one Colombian crew are proud of.

Bogotá, applying, and the 'arrive two days early' advice from someone at the airline is the thing the applicant groups argue about. Now it is settled. Thank you.

LATAM Lima, and the Bogotá altitude at an assessment is a thing the Lima and the coastal Colombians do not expect. Sofia's paragraph should be on the invitation.

Viva Mexico City, 2,240 metres, and the altitude solidarity between Bogotá and Mexico City crews is real. The breath on the stairs is a daily life for both.

Iberia Madrid, and the Avianca crews at the Madrid hotel are the ones who switch registers the fastest of any Latin American crew. Sofia's 'without talking over each other' is the training.

Volaris Guadalajara, and the Central American bases at Avianca are something the Mexican ultra low cost crews look at as the step up with a region attached. Good to have the inside.

@mateobog two days, water, food, and the Spanish register practised. The altitude is the only part of the day you cannot prepare for in a week.
