Cabin crew application from Nigeria in 2026: the Lagos events, the NIN and passport timing

Lagos, hotel front office, and I did the Qatar Lagos event in September and the Emirates one in October, both at hotels in Victoria Island. The Kenyan and Ghanaian threads exist and the Nigerian one does not, which is strange because the Lagos queues are the biggest in West Africa. Here is what I saw and what I would tell the next Lagos applicant.

    The queues

Qatar: around 400 at 7am, the first cut after the document check took more than half. Emirates: similar, with the photo being the main reason people were sent away at the desk. The Lagos studio photo with the backdrop and the retouching is the problem the whole continent has.

    The documents

The international passport renewal through the immigration service can take months and the applicants who got calls and missed joining dates missed them on this. The police character certificate from the Force CID takes weeks. The NIN must be linked to everything. The degree certificate for the apostille goes through the ministry and the Lagos apostille is slow. Start all of it before you queue, not after the call. Every reply on this forum from Africa says this and I will say it again because the Lagos groups do not listen.

    Nigerian English

The recruiter at Qatar told the room that Nigerian English is clear and that the candidates who fail the English stage fail on the written test, not the spoken. The written grammar test caught a lot of people who speak beautifully. Practise the written.

    The family question

Asked to everyone. The Lagos flight from Doha and Dubai is daily and the answer with the flight prices and the staff travel is the one that worked for the girl next to me who got her call in three weeks.

    Where I am

Day 19 after the Emirates final, day 46 after Qatar with a 'shortlisted' on the portal. Documents all started in August. Sharing so the next Lagos batch does better than ours did.

Nigeria, Qatar applying too, and the written test catching the beautiful speakers is exactly the Lagos pattern. Practise the written. Everyone practises the speaking because that is the fun part.

Ghana, and the Lagos and Accra documents story is one story: the passport, the police report, the apostille, started before the queue. Thank you for writing the Nigerian version. The West African applicants now have both.

Emirates from Accra, two years, and the Lagos joiners in my building are the biggest West African group now. The community is waiting. The documents are the only thing between you and it.

Purser, from Nairobi, and the recruiter's note about Nigerian English being clear matches what I hear from the Lagos events. The written test is the filter. Day 46 with shortlisted is a good place to be.

Accra, aspiring, and I am reading the Lagos thread for the same reason I read the Kenyan one: the shape is the same and the capital is different. Documents in August. Noted.

Qatar from Mumbai, and 'shortlisted' on day 46 at Qatar is the batch waiting to be called. Mine turned into a call at day 58. Live your life for two weeks.

@priyaflies day 58 is now the number in my head. Thank you. Living my life, with the phone on loud.
