easyJet Geneva as a first base for a French speaker: the Swiss easyJet contract, the three language cabin, the Geneva rent and the cross border life in France

easyJet Geneva, Swiss, and the Geneva base appears in the pay and the Lisbon threads as 'the Swiss one'. Here is the Geneva base properly, because the French speaking applicants from France and Switzerland ask about it every week and it is a specific life.

    The base

easyJet Switzerland at Geneva, with a Basel base as the other Swiss one, A320 family, a network across Europe with a heavy French, UK, Spanish and Portuguese component and the ski routes in winter (Geneva is the ski airport of Europe from December to April). One of easyJet's larger continental bases and the Swiss one.

    The contract

A Swiss employment contract with easyJet Switzerland, under Swiss law, in francs, with the easyJet structure (basic, sector pay, commission) and the Swiss deductions (the AHV, the pension pillar, the mandatory health insurance that Lucas's SWISS thread describes). The net is the highest of the easyJet continental bases and Geneva rent is the highest. The two cancel partly.

    The three language cabin

French for the announcements and the passengers, English as the operational language, and German for the Basel base and the Swiss German passengers. Italian is a plus for the Ticino routes. French speakers with English are the target hire for Geneva; a third language opens the Basel base and the better bids.

    The Geneva rent

The reason for the next paragraph. A room in a shared flat in Geneva takes a large share of a junior net; a solo flat is a senior thing. The crew live in the French speaking suburbs on the Swiss side (Meyrin, Vernier, near the airport) or across the border.

The cross border life in France

Most of the Geneva crew live in France: Ferney, Saint Genis, Annemasse, the villages of the Pays de Gex and Haute Savoie, 20 to 40 minutes from the airport, at half the Swiss rent. The G permit (the frontalier permit), the French tax arrangement on Swiss income (the Geneva canton taxes at source and France has the agreement), the French car, the Swiss salary. It is the Geneva cabin crew life and it is a good one: Swiss pay, French rent, the Alps on the weekend.

    The ski season

December to April the Geneva base flies full aircraft of skiers to and from the UK and Scandinavia, the sector counts are high, the commission is good, and the crew who ski do it on their days off from the base that is an hour from the resorts. The summer is the Mediterranean. Geneva has two seasons and both are busy.

Versus SWISS and the other French speaking options

SWISS Geneva: the legacy carrier, the kapers contract, the long haul from Zurich not Geneva, a smaller Geneva operation. Air France: Paris, the PNC route, the collective agreement, the long haul. easyJet Geneva: the low cost structure on a Swiss contract, home every night, the cross border life, the ski season. For a French speaker who wants Switzerland and short haul and the Alps: this one.

    For applicants

French fluent, English operational, a third language a bonus, the cross border flat budgeted, the G permit understood. The Geneva base hires French and Swiss nationals and EU nationals with the right to work, in regular rounds.

SWISS Zurich, and the cross border life at Geneva is the Konstanz commuter life at Zurich with better wine. The G permit, the tax at source, the French rent. Lena has the Geneva version and it is the better deal of the two for a French speaker.

Marseille, Air France and Emirates in, and easyJet Geneva was not on my list because I did not know the cross border arrangement. Swiss pay, French rent, the Alps. Adding a third application.

Air France, and the Geneva easyJet crew who come to the Air France assessment arrive with the three language cabin already done. The Geneva base trains a good French speaking crew member. Lena is fair to all three options.

easyJet Berlin, and the continental easyJet bases each have a country and a life: Berlin the international, Lisbon the sunny, Geneva the cross border with the francs. Lena's is the best paid and the best skied.

Lyon, hotel school, and Geneva is 90 minutes from Lyon and I had never considered it. French, English, a flat in the Pays de Gex, the ski season. It is now the third dream.

Austrian Vienna, and the Geneva ski season sector counts are the thing the Vienna crew envy in January: full aircraft, good commission, resorts an hour away. The Alps are a shared asset and Geneva has the best airport for them.

@claire1998 and @parisgirl the Geneva base hires French nationals regularly and the Pays de Gex flat is the whole budget trick. Apply, and the G permit is routine.
