#1 Air Canada, Montreal, and following Paul's, Leon's and Marisol's threads, here is the Canadian hiring picture this month from crew at the airlines and the applicant groups. Same rules: what is running, not what the page says, the date, and for Canada the French note on each. Add below.
Air Canada mainline
Hiring in waves for Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, bilingual candidates prioritised, courses monthly at the Montreal and Toronto centres. The Anglophone hires are fewer and slower, per the base needs. Confirmed by the new hires on my last three trips. French: effectively required.
Air Canada Rouge
Hiring for Toronto and Montreal for the winter sun season, the same bilingual preference in principle and slightly softer in practice. Courses running. French: strongly preferred.
WestJet
Hiring steadily for Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver with the 787 long haul growing, the CUPE agreement public, courses monthly in Calgary. Holly's thread has the base detail. French: an advantage, not a requirement.
Porter
Hiring fast for Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and the new western bases, courses monthly, the E2 fleet growing. Tara's thread. French: required for Montreal, an advantage elsewhere.
Air Transat
Seasonal and permanent for Montreal and Toronto, the winter sun and the summer Europe, courses before each season. French: required for Montreal, preferred for Toronto.
The regionals
Jazz (the Air Canada Express operator) hiring across the regional bases with a French preference in Quebec and the east. PAL and the northern carriers hiring in smaller numbers. The regional route into mainline exists at Jazz and is slow.
Flair and the ultra low cost
Flair hiring for its bases in waves that follow its network changes; the crew on this forum from Flair can add. The Canadian ULCC space is smaller than the US or European one.
The right to work, again
No Canadian carrier sponsors cabin crew visas. Citizenship or permanent residence is the door for everyone on this list. The international readers who message Canadian crew: residence first.
Quieter
Some of the northern carriers, and the Flair situation follows its fleet. Crew there can say.
Reply with your airline, base, what you have seen, and the date. The French note on each is the Canadian specific and the applicants need it.
