Casablanca ground staff, applying to RAM cabin crew, and I have collected the process from the RAM crew I work with every day, because the RAM section of this forum is one post about the Africa network. Here is the recruitment, the requirements, and what the crew say about the job.

    The process

RAM recruits in waves through the careers site and occasionally through open events in Casablanca and other Moroccan cities. Online application with a CV in French, then a document check, then an assessment day at the RAM training centre in Casablanca: a group exercise in French, an English test (written and spoken), an interview in French, a reach and height check. Then a medical at the RAM medical centre and a training course of about eight weeks.

    The requirements

Moroccan nationality (RAM recruits Moroccans; foreign hires are rare), 21 to around 30 at application, a baccalaureate at minimum with a higher qualification preferred, fluent French and Arabic, English at a working level (the English test is where a lot of candidates fall, because the Moroccan education system is French heavy), height minimums similar to the European carriers, no visible tattoos, and the standard medical. Swimming is checked in training.

    The network

Casablanca to the whole of West and Central Africa, which is RAM's unique strength (Dakar, Abidjan, Lagos, Douala, Libreville, Kinshasa and many more), plus Europe (France heavily, Spain, Italy, the UK, Germany, Belgium), the Middle East, and long haul to New York, Montreal, Miami, São Paulo and Beijing. The 787 does the long haul. For a Moroccan crew member it is a network that most European crew would envy.

    The pay in dirhams

Modest by European standards, decent by Moroccan ones, with layover allowances in the destination currency that matter on the long haul and the European routes. The crew say the pay is livable in Casablanca, tight in year one, and improves with the wide body flying. There is a union presence and the working rules are set.

    What the crew say

RAM is a good place to learn the job on a wide network with a proud crew culture, and the Africa flying is unlike anything at any other airline. The frustrations are the ones of a national carrier: the pace of change, the fleet age on some types, the promotion by seniority. A lot of RAM crew go to the Gulf after a few years, and RAM experience is respected at the Gulf events in Casablanca.

    My plan

RAM first if it comes, for the network and the home base, and the Gulf later with hours. If Qatar comes first, I will take it. The RAM crew I work with say that is the right order and the right hedge.

RAM three years then Qatar, and this is accurate. The English test is where Moroccan candidates fall, the Africa network is the thing you will miss, and RAM experience opened every door at the Qatar event. Right plan, right order.

Casablanca, Qatar call received, and I did not apply to RAM because I did not know the process. This thread would have changed that. Good luck, Mohamed.

Ghana, and the RAM crews on the Accra route are the ones who know West Africa properly. The Africa network is a real thing and it is respected across the continent.

@hajarcas thank you, that is the confirmation from someone who did exactly the path. Application submitted this morning.
