TUI Glasgow, five years, long haul leisure, and I have been answering in threads for months without saying hello properly

Hello. Kirsty, Glasgow, TUI, five years, 787 long haul leisure. I have replied in the Christmas thread, the layover threads, the uniform thread and the sector pay thread, and somebody pointed out I have never introduced myself, so here it is.

    How I got here

Care home worker in Paisley until 27, applied to TUI on a whim after a colleague's daughter joined, got through the Glasgow assessment (the plan a day out group task, the competency interview, the reach test in a hotel corridor), did the four week course in Luton, and have been at Glasgow ever since. Seasonal for two summers, permanent since, long haul course in year three.

    What I fly

Cancún, Punta Cana, Barbados, Orlando, Cape Verde, Mexico's Pacific side, Mauritius in the winter programme. Two sectors, one hotel, three to five days away. Ten hour flights each way with 300 people who have saved for this. I have written about the traps and the gifts. Cancún in January is a gift.

What I am like on a crew

The one with the peanut butter jar. The one who does the napkin messages on the Christmas flight. The one who will drag you out of your room on a layover for the walk, once, and then leave you alone if you say no. The one who has a hat on the return sector because the passengers have hats.

    Why I am here

Because the forum is the only place where the TUI and Jet2 and easyJet and Emirates crew all talk, and because I get asked about leisure long haul in DMs every week and I would rather answer once here. And because the applicants from care homes and nurseries and shops need to know that the job is theirs too. It was mine.

    Ask me

About leisure long haul, about TUI, about the seasonal to permanent path, about Glasgow, about the return sector from Cancún, and about the exact spot on the beach in Puerto Morelos. That last one I will answer in a DM.

Jet2 Leeds, and the northern leisure crew are a tribe and Kirsty is one of its elders. The 5am shuttle in Glasgow and the 5am shuttle in Leeds are the same shuttle. Hello properly.

Cardiff, TUI Bristol application in, nursery worker, and you were the one who told me to translate, not stretch, in my interview thread. Hello properly from the applicant you helped.

Condor, and the leisure long haul crew of Europe should have a meeting, and Kirsty should chair it. The traps thread was ours as well. Hello from Frankfurt.

@juliacgn the meeting is in Cancún, obviously. Bring the peanut butter.

Ex TUI, and 'the applicants from care homes and nurseries and shops need to know the job is theirs too' is the sentence I would put on the TUI careers page. It was mine as well. Hello, Kirsty.

easyJet, TUI long haul on my future list, and the peanut butter jar has appeared in three threads now and I have bought one in preparation. Hello from Manchester.
