Video interview lighting and background, does it matter that much?

#1 My room is small and the only plain wall faces away from the window. Does the lighting really affect the score?

#2 It affects whether they can see you smile, and that is scored. Face the window, or put a lamp behind the laptop. A plain wall or a tidy bookshelf is fine. Nobody fails for a small room; people do fail for being a silhouette.
