This scenario comes up at almost every airline and I've heard candidates give some wild answers ("I'd tell the captain to stop the plane"). The structure they want:

    1. Polite, private request.
    2. Explain why, it's a legal requirement and for their safety during takeoff.
    3. Second request, still calm.
    4. Inform the senior cabin crew member / purser. They decide on escalation to the flight deck.

What they're scoring: do you follow the chain of command, do you stay polite, do you understand safety comes before comfort. Never confrontation, never heroics.

Yes. And add one detail interviewers like: you keep an eye on the passenger afterwards and note it for the purser, because the same person may be trouble at landing.

Got this exact question at Wizz and used this structure. The interviewer's follow-up was "and if they still refuse?", answer: it's the purser's call and ultimately the captain's, the aircraft won't depart with an unsecured passenger.
