#2 You get a limited number of day off requests and destination requests per month through the portal. First year crew get them honoured surprisingly often for single days, less for whole weeks. Annual leave is a separate system with bids by period. For your birthday: request the day, and if it doesn't come through, swap with a colleague, the swap board is where most of the roster shaping happens.
