Cabin crew cover letter: do airlines even read it? Sample that got me an interview

#1 Career changer here (teacher, 29). Spent two evenings on a cover letter for the BA application and then a friend told me nobody reads them. So which is it?
For what it's worth, mine was four short paragraphs. Who I am in one line, why crew (not travel, I wrote about classroom de-escalation), why BA, and a closing line about availability. Got the assessment centre invite two weeks later. Would still love to know if it mattered or the CV did the work.

#2 I read them, and most recruiters I trained with skim the first paragraph. If the first paragraph says something specific about you and the job, it helps a little. If it says 'I have always dreamed of flying' it actively hurts. Yours sounds like the good kind. The CV still does most of the work though, so don't spend two evenings on it next time, spend one.

#3 easyJet doesn't even have a field for one on the online form, so for the LCCs the answer is no. For BA and the legacy carriers a short one is fine.
