Keeping one foot in the sky: part-time, seasonal and rejoiner policies
-
#1 Leaving flying isn't binary any more. Part-time patterns at the European legacy carriers, seasonal contracts at leisure airlines, freelance corporate flying, safety training instruction, assessor days at recruitment drives. And rejoiner policies: many airlines take experienced ex-crew back within a defined window with shortened retraining. Crew consistently say colleagues and crew-room culture are what they miss most, more than the travel. If that's you, a part-time arrangement beats a clean break you spend two years missing.

#2 I do assessor days for a recruitment agency a few times a year. It scratches the itch and pays well. Highly recommend for ex-crew in ground careers.
