The layover bag system that actually works (long-haul crew, 10 years in)

Two bags: a hard-shell roller for the layover, a structured tote for the cabin. Pack the cabin bag identically every trip, muscle memory beats lists at 04:00.

Cabin bag: compression socks, lip balm, hand cream, collapsible water bottle, charger and universal adapter, spare tights and hair pins, sewing kit, stain pen, protein snacks, small first-aid pouch.

Layover bag: pyjamas and a hoodie (warmth over style, always), gym kit that doubles as walking clothes, one going-out outfit, swimwear all year, a permanently packed toiletry kit.

What I stopped packing: second heels, the "just in case" third outfit, full-size anything, paper books.

The permanently packed toiletry kit is the single best habit. Mine hasn't been unpacked in four years.

Adding: a travel hot water bottle. Cold crew rests and over-air-conditioned hotels. Thank me later.
