Layover allowances / per diems: how they're calculated and how crew actually use them

#1 Allowances are the most underestimated part of crew pay. At most airlines it's a fixed amount per hour or per night away from base, in local currency or USD, meant to cover meals. The crew who save money treat it as income: hotel breakfast if included, one destination meal, supermarket for the rest. The crew who don't save spend it in the hotel bar and call it "free money". Over a year the difference is a few thousand in savings. What's your airline's system?

#2 THY: USD/EUR per diems by destination and duration, paid with salary. A two-Americas-layover month is noticeably different from a Gulf-turnaround month.
