Rejoining the airline after two years away, my experience

Left SAS for two years for a ground job and family reasons, came back through the rejoiner policy. Shortened retraining (three weeks instead of full initial), my seniority partly restored per the agreement, and honestly the best career decision I made. I missed the job. If your airline has a rejoiner window, know its length before you leave. It is a safety net worth having.

KLM has one too. Several colleagues came back after trying an office and hating the chair.
