#1 Because people ask and the answers online are wrong. Regulators set a minimum, commonly 8 hours between drinking and duty plus strict blood alcohol limits. Airlines are stricter in the contract: 10 or 12 hours is common, some say no alcohol at all within 24 hours of a duty. Random testing exists and has ended careers. The layover drinks culture is real; so is the fact that most long career crew have one at dinner or none. Know your airline's number, not the regulator's.
