Missed another wedding, how do you handle the guilt?

#1 Second close friend's wedding I couldn't attend because of a roster I couldn't swap. The guilt is real. How do long-term crew handle it?

#2 Ten years: you learn to plan the important ones a year ahead with leave requests, you get very good at being present when you are there, and you accept that some you'll miss. What helped me most was being honest with friends early, "I might not make it, and if I can't, it isn't about you." The good ones understand. The job takes some things; it gives others. Both are real.

#3 And this is genuinely why days off and leave policies matter more than allowances. Choose the airline that lets you go to the wedding.
