#2 Correct, no company housing for local hires; foreign hires get some allowance support depending on contract. Most junior crew share HDB flats or condos; rent is high but food and transport are affordable. Saving is possible at Leading grade and above; at entry it's tight in year one, comfortable from year two once allowances from long-haul add up.
