#2 Real. Winter schedules are thinner, so sector pay drops, some bases see 50-60 hours in January versus 90+ in July. Some seasonal bases close for winter and crew are offered moves or unpaid leave. Managing it: save in summer (the classic advice everyone ignores in their first July), pick a year-round base if you can, and if you're on a seasonal contract, know the end date and plan for it.
