US and Canadian carriers hiring late 2026: Delta, United, American, Southwest, Alaska, JetBlue, Air Canada, WestJet and Porter, and the windows that close fast

American Airlines Chicago, four years, holding a line, and the US hiring question comes from the applicants who see the careers page say 'not currently accepting applications' and assume the airline is not hiring. The US carriers hire in windows that open for hours or days and close, and the applicants who miss the window wait months. Here is the late 2026 picture from the new hires on this forum and the crew at each carrier.

    Delta

Hiring, with the application windows opening for short periods (sometimes a day or two) a few times a year and the classes running through the winter and spring. The new hires at Atlanta (Brandon) and JFK (Mia, Sally) report full classes and the base assignments to the large bases. The read: hiring, windowed, set the alert and apply within hours.

    United

Hiring, the windows open longer than Delta's (weeks sometimes), the classes at the Houston training centre running continuously, the new hires reporting Newark, Denver and Houston as the common assignments (Benji, Jay). The language speaker positions recruited alongside (Renee's international thread). The read: hiring steadily, the longer window the applicant's friend.

    American

Hiring, the windows open periodically, the classes at Dallas running, the new hires assigned to the large bases (Dallas, Charlotte, Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami) and the language speakers to Miami and the Latin America bases (Jessica). The read: hiring, windowed, the union contract the thing to read before the application.

    Southwest

Hiring in waves, the windows short, the classes at Dallas, the trip for pay structure the thing the applicants should understand (Dexter's thread). The read: hiring, windowed, the culture fit the assessment's emphasis.

    Alaska and JetBlue

Alaska hiring for the West Coast bases with the windows opening a few times a year (Jen's thread); JetBlue hiring for JFK, Boston, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando with the windows and the classes through the winter (Sarah). The read: both hiring, both windowed, both regional in their base footprints.

    Air Canada, WestJet, Porter

Air Canada hiring for the Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver bases with the bilingual preference and the residency requirement (the earlier thread on this board), the classes running (Ethan). WestJet hiring for Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto (Ruby, Brooke, Holly). Porter hiring for the Toronto growth on the E195s (Tara). The read: all three hiring, the residency requirement absolute, the bilingual advantage at Air Canada decisive.

The windows that open and close in hours

The US carriers post the opening on the careers page and the social channels, the applications flood in (tens of thousands in a day at Delta), and the window closes when the airline has enough. The applicant who has the application prepared (the resume in the airline's format, the answers to the standard questions drafted, the photo ready) submits within the hour; the one who starts writing when the window opens misses it. Set the alert on every carrier's careers page and the aviation job boards, and keep the application ready to paste.

    What the new hires report

Full classes, the base assignments to the large bases and the junior ones, the reserve of a year or more at the busy bases (the US board threads), the 401k match to set from day one (Steve's pension thread), and the hiring continuing into 2027 at every carrier above as the fleets grow and the senior crew retire.

    The honest read

Every US and Canadian carrier above is hiring in late 2026 and none of them is hiring the way the applicant expects: the windows are short, the preparation is everything, and the careers page saying 'not currently accepting' means 'not today'.

Delta Atlanta, year one, and the window I applied in was open for about 36 hours and I had the application ready from the forum's advice and submitted in the first hour. The classes are full. Jenna has the Delta read right: set the alert, apply within hours.

United Newark, month nine, and the longer United window is the applicant's friend exactly: mine was open for two weeks and the Houston classes are running continuously. Newark, Denver and Houston as the common assignments is right. Good cross carrier read.

Southwest Las Vegas, and the windows being short and the culture fit being the assessment's emphasis is the Southwest read and the trip for pay structure is the thing to understand before, badly explained by me on the other board. Hiring in waves. Jenna has it.

Porter Toronto, two years, and the Porter growth hiring on the E195s is continuing and the residency requirement is absolute at all three Canadian carriers, as Jenna says. The Toronto classes are full. The new Canadian option is hiring.

JetBlue JFK, six years, and the JFK, Boston, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando classes through the winter is right and the windows are the JetBlue pattern too. Set the alert. The crash pad threads are the next read for the ones assigned JFK.

Air Canada training Toronto, and the bilingual advantage being decisive is true from inside the class: the majority have the French. The residency requirement was the first filter. Jenna has the Canadian read right from Chicago.

Lima, hotel receptionist, applying to LATAM and the Gulf, and the US carriers are not my door (no residency) but the window pattern is the thing I did not know and it explains the 'not currently accepting' pages I had read as closed. For the US resident applicants this thread is the one.

@brandonatl 36 hours and the first hour is the Delta story every time. @carloslima the residency is the US door's lock and the Gulf is the right door for Lima, and the window pattern applies to the LATAM postings too, so set the alerts there.
