flydubai cabin crew from the inside 2026: salary and package versus Emirates, the 737 roster, the layovers, accommodation and the path to Emirates
-
#1 Cairo, and I wrote the thread documenting my Riyadh Air, Saudia and flydubai applications. The flydubai one came through first, I joined, I have been flying eight months, and the thread about flydubai from the inside did not exist when I was applying. Here it is, for the applicants comparing it to Emirates and the Saudi carriers, from eight months in.
The package compared to Emirates
flydubai pays a basic plus flying pay and allowances in dirhams, tax free, with the accommodation either provided or as an allowance depending on the intake and the grade (mine is an allowance and I share a flat in Deira with two colleagues), the transport, the medical and the annual ticket. The total for a new joiner in a normal month comes out below the Emirates new joiner total: the basic is lower, the flying pay is comparable, and the accommodation allowance does not cover a solo flat so most share. The gap to Emirates is real and the applicants should know it: flydubai is the Dubai door with a smaller package and a different roster, not the same package with a different logo.
The narrow body roster
737s only. The network is the Gulf, the Indian subcontinent, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Eastern Europe, East Africa and the Russian and Middle Eastern cities, with the longer routes up to five or six hours. A month is a mix of turnarounds (two sectors, back the same day) and layovers (one night mostly, two sometimes) with the standby blocks. The sectors are shorter, the days are longer in sector count, and there is no ultra long haul: no 16 hour flights and no 48 hour layovers. The crew who want the Emirates layover life do not find it here; the crew who want to be home most nights in Dubai do.
The layovers
The one nighters at the interesting cities: Tbilisi, Baku, Almaty, Zanzibar, Kathmandu, Belgrade, Krakow, Prague, Colombo, the Indian cities. Short, in good hotels, and the crew who collect them rate them highly because they are places the Emirates roster does not go. Zoe's layover notebook style would fill quickly here.
The accommodation question
The allowance versus the provided accommodation depends on the intake and the current policy, and the allowance crew share. The provided accommodation crew are in company buildings with the usual rules. The applicants should ask which applies to their intake at the final interview, because the budget differs.
The move to Emirates
Some flydubai crew apply to Emirates after a year or two for the package and the wide body life, and some are hired, with the flydubai experience counting. The two airlines are partners and the move is known and not frowned upon. It is a path: the Dubai door at flydubai, the Emirates package later.
The ones who prefer to stay
The crew who like the narrow body rhythm, the one night layovers in the unusual cities, the home most nights, and the smaller company feel. Several of my colleagues have had the Emirates opportunity and declined it for the roster. The flydubai life is a specific life and the ones who want it stay.
For the applicants comparing
flydubai is a Dubai salary below Emirates with a narrow body roster of short layovers in interesting places and the path to Emirates open. The Saudi carriers are a different country and a different package (the other threads on this board). If the goal is Dubai and the Emirates door is slow, flydubai is a real door and a real job, and I am glad I walked through it.

#2 Emirates, five years, and the flydubai crew who move to us with the experience counting is a known path and the ones who decline for the roster are known too. Noor has written the honest gap: the Dubai door with a smaller package and a different roster. The applicants comparing should read it as a different job, not a lesser one.
-
#3 flynas Jeddah, and the Saudi low cost comparison to flydubai is the thread the Gulf low cost applicants need: the narrow body rhythm is the same, the country and the package differ. Noor's thread is the flydubai half and mine on this board is the flynas half. Both honest.
-
#4 Turkish long haul, and the one nighters at Tbilisi, Baku, Almaty, Zanzibar and Kathmandu is a layover notebook I would envy: the Emirates roster does not go to half of them and mine goes to few. The narrow body roster's compensation is the cities. Noor has it.

#5 Riyadh Air cohorts, and Noor and I were on the same application journey from her documenting thread and she went flydubai and I went Riyadh and both doors were real. The flydubai package below Emirates with the path open is the honest version and the Saudi package is a different thread. Good to read you from the inside, Noor.

#6 EgyptAir, five years, thinking about Emirates, and the flydubai as the Dubai door when the Emirates one is slow is the option I had not considered seriously and Noor's eight months make it concrete: the package gap, the roster, the path. Worth a real look from Cairo.

#7 Accra, applied to Qatar and Emirates, and flydubai is now on the list because of this thread: the Accra applicants do not know it exists as a door. The narrow body rhythm and the one night layovers suit a first job. Thank you Noor for finishing your documenting thread this way.

#8 @kofiacc flydubai recruits in the regions the Emirates events cover less often and the Accra applicants should watch the careers page directly. @hassanruh two doors from one documenting thread is the best outcome that thread could have had.
