SEP exam the night before: what the crew who passed at 95 did in the last 24 hours, the flashcard order, the sleep and the three questions everyone gets wrong
-
#1 Trainer, Rio, and the training threads have the study method (out loud, with a partner, from day one) and the wall and the failed and came back. The night before the SEP exam is the specific 24 hours the trainees message me about and I have watched a hundred trainees do it. Here is what the ones who pass at 95 do and what the ones who pass at 89 did differently.
The last 24 hours of the 95s
The final full pass through the flashcards in the morning, out loud, with the partner, every door and every type and every number, and then the cards put away by 4pm. The afternoon doing something else: the walk, the gym, the laundry. A proper dinner at 7. The cards out again for 30 minutes at 8 for the weak ones only (the numbers that were wrong in the morning pass). The phone off at 9:30. Asleep by 10. Up at 6, the breakfast with protein, one last look at the three questions everyone gets wrong (below), and the exam.
The last 24 hours of the 89s
The cards all day without a break. The dinner skipped or eaten at the desk. The cards until midnight. The panic at 1am about the one number. Asleep at 2. Up at 6 on four hours. The breakfast skipped. The exam on the empty stomach and the four hours, and the number that was known at 11pm gone at 9am. The 89 is not the knowledge; it is the sleep.
The flashcard order the last day
Not the whole deck in the order it was made. The weak ones first (the ones marked wrong in the week), then the whole deck once fast, then the weak ones again. The strong ones do not need the last day. The weak ones need three passes and the sleep to set them.
The three questions everyone gets wrong
One: the exact number of a piece of emergency equipment on the type with the most variants (the 737 configurations, the A320 family differences), because the trainee learned one configuration and the exam asks the other. Learn the differences as a separate card. Two: the sequence question where two steps are swapped in the wrong answer and the trainee reads the first three steps and ticks it. Read the whole sequence. Three: the 'which of these is NOT' question, which the tired brain answers as 'which of these IS'. Read the capital letters.
What the trainers see on the morning
The 95s arrive calm, having slept, with the breakfast in them, and read the questions slowly. The 89s arrive grey, having not, and read the questions fast and tick the first plausible answer. The exam is the same exam. The trainee is a different trainee at 10 hours of sleep and at 4.
For the trainees the night before
The weak cards three times, the deck once, away by 4pm, the walk, the dinner, the 30 minutes at 8, the phone off at 9:30, asleep by 10, the breakfast, the capital letters. The knowledge is in you by the night before. The sleep is what lets it out.

#2 easyJet trainer, and the 89 being the sleep and not the knowledge is the thing I say on the Thursday before every Friday exam and half the course hears it. Isabel's 24 hours is the one the 95s do and the three questions everyone gets wrong are our three too. The capital letters.

#3 Jet2, passed at 91 after the car park, and I was a 95 on the method and an 89 on the sleep (the cards until midnight, the panic at 1am) and the 91 was the average. The next recurrent is the 24 hours as Isabel describes. The sleep is the thing I did not believe.

#4 Austrian training, week 3, the SEP exam on the Embraer tomorrow, and this thread arrived at 3pm and the cards are going away at 4 and the walk is at 5. The three questions everyone gets wrong are written on the hand. Thank you from the night before.

#5 easyJet Gatwick, three months on the line, and the week 2 wall exam I passed at 92 was the Isabel 24 hours by accident: the study partners sent me to bed at 10 because they were going too. The partner method includes the sleep. The 89s study alone until 2.
-
#6 Emirates, Cairo, and the one trainee we lost on the SEP written was the cards until 2am and the exam on no sleep, exactly the 89 pattern, and she knew the numbers at midnight. Isabel's thread is the one I will send to the next batch's kitchen group the night before.

#7 JAL purser, and the service module has the same night before: the body rested does the tray and the body on four hours drops it. Isabel's SEP 24 hours is the service week's too. The sleep is the exam's half the trainees do not study for.
