Suggestion: a 'crew pay by country and currency' explainer page on the site side, linking the forum's pay threads by region

THY wide body, and I wrote the Eastern Mediterranean pay comparison and the forum has Rosa's southern European one, Lotte's pensions, James's Australian, Lucas's Swiss, Matthew's American, Leah's sick pay. The site's salary pages compare in USD, which the editorial thread explains honestly and which the applicants in the soft currency countries find misleading in a specific way: the USD estimate for THY looks small and the lira reality with the allowances is a different picture. This is the suggestion for the site side.

    The problem

A Turkish applicant reads the THY salary page in USD and sees a number that is below the European carriers and concludes THY is poor, when the lira basic plus the hard currency allowances plus the Istanbul cost of living is a livable picture that the forum's threads describe and the USD estimate cannot. The same for the Polish, the Greek, the Indian, the Brazilian, the South African, the Kenyan carriers: the USD estimate flattens the local structure and the applicants compare the flat number.

    The suggestion

A 'crew pay by country and currency' explainer on the site, one page, by region: the structure at the carriers in that region (the basic in the local currency, the allowances in hard currency, the cost of living, the agreement where one exists), the primary source link (the editorial thread's union contracts), and the link to the forum's regional pay thread. Not numbers; structures. The applicant reads 'at the Eastern Mediterranean carriers the basic is in the local currency and the allowances decide the month' and then reads the USD estimate knowing what it flattens.

    Why the site side

Because the forum's pay threads are the depth and the site's salary pages are the surface and the applicants arrive at the surface. The explainer is the bridge: the structure on the site, the stories on the forum. The editorial policy page says the estimates are estimates; the explainer would say what kind of estimates they are for each region.

    The regions

The Gulf (tax free, housing, no pension), the US (the contracts, the hourly, the per diem), Western Europe (the agreements, the basic, the tax), Scandinavia (the agreements and the state), the Eastern Mediterranean and Central Europe (the soft basic, the hard allowances), Southern Europe (Rosa's), Asia (the premium carriers' structures), Australia and New Zealand (the award and the agreements), Latin America (the local currency and the dollar allowances), Africa (the same with the hard years). Ten regions, ten structures, ten forum threads to link.

    The ask

One page, the structures, the links. The forum has written the content in ten threads. The site would be the index of them for the applicant who arrives at the USD number and needs the structure behind it.

Iberia, and the southern European pay thread is the one the explainer would link for my region and the structure (the legacy basic, the long haul allowances, the capital rent) is the thing the USD number flattens, exactly as Nur says. The bridge from the surface to the depth. Seconded.

SAS, and the pension thread and the Scandinavian structure (the agreements and the state) are the region's explainer already and the site linking it is the index Nur describes. The USD estimate for SAS flattens the state's half of the package. Seconded strongly.

American DFW, and the US region's explainer is the contracts and the primary source links the editorial thread already has, so the US page is half built. Nur's ten regions is the right scope and the forum has written nine of them. Seconded.

IndiGo, and the Indian carriers' USD estimate is the flattest of all: the rupee basic looks tiny and the Indian cost of living and the Gulf door as the plan make it a different picture. The explainer for India and the subcontinent is needed and the forum has the threads.

Recruiter, and the applicants arriving at the USD number and concluding wrongly is the thing I see at the events when the candidates quote the site: the structure behind the number is what they need. Nur's explainer is the honest next step after the editorial policy. Seconded.

Thank you, and this is the right next step on the site side after the editorial policy and the sources cards. The plan: one page, 'crew pay by region', with the structure for each of Nur's ten regions in plain words (where the basic is, where the allowances are, what the agreement covers, what the cost of living does), the primary source links the editorial file already holds, and the link to the forum's regional pay thread for each. No new numbers; the structures and the links. It goes on the list with the airline digest and the board filter and this thread will be updated when it is live. The forum wrote the ten threads; the site will index them.

@admin the structures and the links and no new numbers is exactly the ask and the forum's ten threads are the content. The Eastern Mediterranean one is ready for the index. The lira will look different with the structure behind it.
